Is Thrifting a new trend?
Currently, Thrifting is the new trend that's taking the world by storm. And it's not just clothing- you can thrift anything from furniture to decor and more! The thrift stores are often jam-packed because people have now started to look for their desired pair of clothing at the thrift store first rather than at the retailers.
The idea of thrifting has been around for decades, but now with Instagram and Social media at our fingertips, people are finding new ways to shop and also to sell. They do not hesitate to thrift anymore as people have realized that it's a way to discover hidden gems and find pieces that aren't mass-produced. To top it off, nowadays people are even making YouTube videos doing a try-on haul of the thrifted items, and some people even have the services of thrifting a perfect head-to-toe outfit for you at a very minimal price, based on the kind of look you want, which is often best for those who don't want to spend a lot on their outfits but also don't have the time to go thrifting.
In addition to thrifting being eco-friendly, it is also famous because of its affordability. You can find unique pieces, designer items, and new and old pieces at thrift stores.
One of the key reasons for the rise in Thrifting can be the influencers. We all know that whenever it comes to fashion tips we often look up to our favorite fashion influencers, but because of the boring clothes in all the retail stores, influencers have now started thrifting and they also encourage their fans about why they should be thrifting instead of buying expensive yet unstylish clothes.
One of the famous influencers in India, who is known for her unique fashion style was also seen wearing thrifted items but still managed to amaze her audiences because of her unique taste and styles. She has also encouraged her fans to do the same. She is none other than the famous influencer Komal Pandey.
The other reason for the rise in thrifting can be that young people are looking to get their hands on vintage clothing, as a result of a trend called "Vintage Revival". It has been happening for years but only gained attention until recently when companies started producing new lines that were influenced by classic styles from the past. The example can be ankle-length floral dresses, bell bottoms paired with fitted tops, Y2K fashion(the latest fashion trend), and sandals(or boots). This style has become so popular among young consumers that almost all the stores are full of these kinds of clothing.
So what does this mean?
Well if you want to stand out amongst others with your piece(s) then I'd suggest hitting the thrift stores first before buying an expensive yet the same kind of clothing like any other out there. Because only after you start thrifting, you will realize that the value of your wardrobe has become much greater than it was before!
Many people are unaware that thrift stores sell high-quality clothing, shoes, and accessories at a fraction of the price. It's not surprising that more people are looking for these stores to save money or find unique items for their wardrobes. Millennials, in particular, enjoy shopping secondhand because it allows them to find and discover new brands that they would not otherwise purchase at full price.
